Topic: Issue getting solidoodle 2 to connect to my pc through repetier

Hello all!

I'm just beginning in the 3d printing world and have been following the instruction through the solidoodle wiki on setting up the software. I installed Ardiuno software, repetier, as well as the python software. I'm just trying to connect my printer to my pc, and every time I try I get an error in repetier saying "The connection failed with the following error: Access to the port 'COM#' is denied.. Make sure your printer is connected, enabled, and connection type is set correct."

I'm not sure what I need to do to fix this error, I've tried googling and it seems to bring me to the same few pages that just follow the same things I've already tried. I used the solidoodle wiki to set the printer settings in repetier as well so I feel that's all correct, but I could be wrong.

Any help with this would be greatly appreciated!

Evan

you may need to manually install the correct driver for your printer's controller board - being an SD2, I would guess it has the Sang board, but without seeing it, i can't say for certain.

also, once the driver is installed, and the printer is actually being recognized, you should really go into device manager and change the COM port associated with the printer to something much higher so that other devices do not "steal" the port.

Yeah I looked and it does seem to have a sanguinololu board, so I'll just need the drivers for that possibly?
