Topic: Time for a new motor ? :(

So after almost a year of sitting idle, I fired up my filastruder to generate more filament from the amazing machine. Unfortunately, a bit of smoke from the motor brushes and then the power supply shuts down everytime I try to fire up the motor after the 15 min interval after the system reached the operating temperature.

Time for a new motor and with this occasion a protection board ?

Common problem ?

Good time to say hi to elmoret smile even with the unfortunate occasion. A wonderful machine that I love to hear working in the background !

Can I buy only the motor without the whole geared assembly ?

Need more information. What model motor are you using? Under what conditions? How many hours of use? With or without a stall protection board?

Yes, it can be purchased without a gearbox. Just use the contact us form on the Filastruder site.

Re: Time for a new motor ? :(

I presume it is the original type motor, this is a quite old filastruder I purchased years ago. 12V, no stall protection board.

Cannot see too well the markings from the position it is mounted in, ends in 500-1269H, then second line is 406210153

Not that much use, maybe 150 hrs ?

Mostly extruding ABS pellets. I am thinking maybe the humidity in Houston affects the brushes if it sits for a while (although it is in the house and air conditioned).

I placed already the order on the site for a new motor with gearbox and stall protection board, could you please adjust for a motor without the gearbox and refund the difference ?

Thank you Tim.

Re: Time for a new motor ? :(

The motor you ordered may not be compatible with the one you have, can you send a photo of the one you have, if you can't see the label on it to share the model number?

Re: Time for a new motor ? :(

I was afraid of that, that is not a GF-45 gear motor. I'll dig in the old parts bin tomorrow and see what I can find.

Re: Time for a new motor ? :(

will the complete new gear assembly/motor be compatible with this old Filastruder ? If yes, then rather please send the whole new system since it has a better throughput smile and maybe a better motor longevity wise.
