Topic: print cooling issue

I'm new to this 3d printing thing and still trying to figure out the basics. One problem I've noticed, and I'm sure I'm missing the easy solution, is that when I print something small, for example a Gopro mount (the thing with the 3 fins with holes in it) when it gets to the small bits, the print gets a smudged. I'm assuming the filament is too hot. I'm using repetier host with the cura engineerings set to slow and printing with ABS. I thought you needed to be careful about cooling it off quickly, to prevent warping.

Should I just stick a fan in there to cool it fast?

Re: print cooling issue

you need to either slow the print down dramatically for the small sections or print multiple parts at once to let the previous layers cool before printing over them again. You dont want a fan blowing on entire print with ABS or youll get warping. A layer fan can help some also

You do not want to cool too quickly buy each layer must at leas be almost solid before the next layer hits. It is a balancing act between hot end temp cooling and print speed.
