Topic: Filawinder motor just quits

First of all i'd like to ask MODS to create forum for filawinder because its a unit of its self different from filastruder all together.
Thank you.

What could be the possible cause for motor to just stop turning in automatic mode ?
Motor is not faulty.
Laser is ON all the time (i cannot confirm if sensors are reading anything)
It would work find and suddenly quit.
Dust, rust maybe ? It all looks clean to me.

I know the motor is getting PWM from the MCU, but is it possible the motor FET is overheating in automatic?

Does it happen if set in manual mode with the speed set close to the same speed as automatic mode?

No idea. It runs fine after i blew the dust off the photo sensors.
It seem to have fixed the problem but the way it behaves does not indicate that it was at the sensors to begin with.
Filament would drop below the lowest photo sensor and then motor just stays still until i turn it by hand. Then it would turn like normal.

Actually, that sounds exactly like the sensors were having trouble reading filament position.

When you turned by hand, you would have pulled the filament back within the bounds of the sensors, and then it could track it again.

This is confirmed by cleaning the sensors fixing things.

In the future you can check if it is a control or motor problem by measuring the voltage at the motor.

Ill blow it off with compressed air. Maybe it will help

Meanwhile, magnet sensor is falling off and sometimes fails to register turns so servo does not turn.
Do you sell that sensor by its self ?

Maybe he means the magnet instead of the hall sensor.

No, i literaly mean the sensor thats soldered to the board.
It got knocked a few times so its loose.
I soldered it back on but i want to get a spare just in case.

It should have a part number on it and Mouser or Digikey would sell it. It's not some magic unique part.
