Topic: Workbench Heated Bed on Rumba Plus

Hello, I installed on a rumba plus on a workbench, Everything is running good except for the heated bed. It is a 4 pin connector but the rumba only has two, any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

Two of the connections from the bed would be for the heater and the other two would be for the thermistor. You will need to trace them to figure out which is which. The just connect the two for the heater to the Rumba bed connection and the two for thermistor will connect to the Rumba bed temp sensor connector. This means you will also have to source pins and connector housings to redo the four pin in to two 2 pin connectors that match your Rumba.

The thermistor is not included in the 4 wires to the heated bed. I already have the bed thermistor connected and properly reading temperatures.

My guess would be a dual heater then but the Solidoodle stuff has always been weird and had quirks so it would be best to wait for one of the seasoned SD owners to chime in.

not familiar with the WB you likely  need to ohm out the wires

Re: Workbench Heated Bed on Rumba Plus

The stock SDWB bed has two 12v heaters.  They split the circuit to reduce the wire size needed to handle the current load needed to heat that large 12" bed.

If you're using 12v, and the Rumba/power supply situation you have can handle it, you can just connect the two circuits in parallel.  If you're using 24v, you can connect them in series.

Either way, be sure to ohm out the wiring to be certain of pin-out.

I replaced my bed and heater, so I'm not much help on which wire is which.

I put a Duet WiFi in my Workbench.  I kept the original rods, etc.  I'm using an E3D Chimera with dual Titans.  I'm still tweaking the calibration, but it's printing great.
