Topic: Hi all, from OH

I have a SD3 on order(was placed in early January).  I have been reading some good pointers on the forums and have been researching 3d printers for several months prior to placing the order.  Hopefully I will be ready for when my printer arrives.  I found out about Solidoodle when Attack of the Show featured a SD2 on their show, after that I knew I had to have one.  Sadly AotS is no more and soon G4 will be a different channel altogether.

Anyway, I am a computer enthusiast, tech geek, and I have some background in CAD and will be printing almost entirely original designs that I will be making.  I have a few things already done, sliced, and waiting.

Welcome to the group.  Just remember to follow the setup and calibrate your machine if you want good results.  Did they ship your machine already? I also have been waiting since early January and been learning Repetier Host and the different slicers while waiting, but there is only so much you can do without the machine to see if it works.

That's good advice, I also want to put an enclosure on it before I do any serious printing.  No my printer has not shipped yet, I am patiently waiting.  I'll be sure to post in the order shipping list thread once I know it's on it's way.  Order# 7360 and placed on 1-7-13.  I have a SD3 and 1kg of abs on that order.  I have already obtained a few more kg of abs from another supplier.

I live in Columbus.  We have a monthly 3D Printers meetup down here at the Columbus Ideas Foundry the 2nd wednesday of each month. I'm normally there with my SD2.

Nicky, Thanks for the invite!  I do work some odd/late hours, but maybe I can take a vacation day once I get some interesting things made and visit you guys.
