Interesting, because I would think the David SLS-2 should give you very good scans. I also use a structured light scanner, the Einscan 3D, and I think that's one of the best scanners for under $5K. The difference between the David and the Einscan is the Einscan is self contained, and comes with a turntable, but the David scanner has a better camera which should result in higher details.
I'm not sure what you're trying to scan and what the resulting quality is, but the SLS-2 should be a good scanner. Maybe your quality needs are higher than mine, I don't know.
But let me ask this: is your FDM printer capable of reproducing the detail SLS-2 can provide? Do you plan on getting a better printer to match the quality of the better scanner?
