Topic: Cheers from Italy

hi everybody,
struggling to buy or not a 3d printer. Reading here and there and changing my mind every 5 mins :-(.
So difficult.

From a certain POV I'm very tempted by the original Prusa MK2 kit, but both the cost and the shipping time (7 weeks!) are getting me down.

On the other side I've not found any clone that seems to have good positive reviews by other users.
Let's see what my mind is going to do next.

Re: Cheers from Italy

I have a friend that has a 3d printing shop. He tests a lot of printers. Seems like the monoprice and Wanhao I3s are a good bang for the buck. Also the monoprice mini  is only $200 enough to get started leaning while waiting for a real I3

IMHO the choice is easy buy one . the hard part is the price point  make and model to buy.
I3 is a solid design and I do not think you would be disappointed in an original .

Thx for your kind reply.

As I can see the Wanhao I3s as "just" a 100 micron resolution. Since I may want to try and print mechs and gears, would it be an issue compared to a 50 micron resolution by your POV?

Re: Cheers from Italy

most people I know do not print lower than 100 micron. if you really need thinner / better resolution a resin printer would be the way to go.
gears you will want some nylon .
I am thinking of trying a roll of this.

Filekemp is out of portugal so you should be able to find a EU supplier.
