Topic: pi camera with or without IR filter ?

Hello,

I am about to buy the parts to build my own scanner and I am a bit confused which camera I need.
Do I need one with an IR filter or without the filter ?

Thank you

Unless you are ghost hunting you wouldn't need the filter. Otherwise the camera is going to pickup light that the scanning software is not designed to account for.

Printing since 2009 and still love it!
Anycubic 4MAX best $225 ever invested.
Voxelabs Proxima SLA. 6 inch 2k Mono LCD.
Anycubic Predator, massive Delta machine. 450 x 370 print envelope.

The standard Raspberry Pi camera module has the IR filter in place.  The NOIR camea, which lacks the filter, is for night-time and low light imaging.  I think most individuals have been using the standard camera.
