Topic: Polymer Powder

Hey y'all!

I was just wondering if there is a market out there for polymers that come in powder form.  I know that most people simply use pellets, but I didn't know if powder was something people were using or needed.

Thanks

Re: Polymer Powder

IMHO YES there is a market for plastic powder but for the SLS printers NOT for  DIY extrusion  of fff/FDM machines. Although  I Guess  one could try mixing powdered plastic with color powder.

I expect powder is harder more expensive to produce and would not flow as well,

Re: Polymer Powder

At the beginning, Tim got Shapeways to send him a bunch of their discarded nylon powder.  After a couple of heat cycles it is no longer suitable for printing, but as I recall it worked fine for extruding.  Straight nylon isn't the best for printing however.
