Topic: Is the Press worth $50 (Time Sensitive)

So I have chance to buy this printer for $50.

The original owner is saying saying something is either wrong with the software or the cables. It just stops in the middle of a print.

Is it worth a $50 along with all the time and energy it is going to take to get this back up and running considering other printers that can be purchased. Am I really saving $150, since I'm considering a mono price maker select or am I going to be disappointed with the progress I could make?

It sounds like they are going to want me to pick it up this weekend hence the time sensitive nature.

Thanks in advance for any advice given.

Re: Is the Press worth $50 (Time Sensitive)

I don't have a Press, but I've loosely followed its progress since the start. As long as everything is working(motors, endstops, etc..) it could be worth $50. But if you want to build it into a working printer, you'll likely have a lot of work ahead of you.

Take a chance to look the the stickied topics in the Press forum for things to expect, especially if its still stock.

Good luck!

This is  a tough call. is a used press worth certainly . but for parts or for a machine to get working??
I have seen folks here make great machines of what other would consider junk.
there is a saying one man says it can be done another says it can not be done . They are both right!!
You have to go with your gut and make the decision that  is right for you.
I would expect the monoprice to work more or less out of the box. the old time versus money dilemma.
Is this your first printer or second or third.
