Topic: Aquarium Pump !Must be Water tight!

Hello everyone,

I need to make a shell for a homemade aquarium pump.
I am EXTREMELY new to this 3D printing world and I am not familiar with realistically anything to do with 3D printing.

But here is my question; I need to build a shell for a DC motor that will be powering a water pump. The motor will be submerged in water for long period of time 1+ year. I need to make sure that water does not get into the enclosure or else the pump will burn and I will cry.
What filament or material or really whatever, would be best for me to use to make said enclosure. It is brutally important that it is 100% water proof and does not dissolve in water.

Thanks!

First of all be a bit patient when posting here.  it is easy to hit the post button twice and double post.  so PLEASE delete your second accidental post.
As far as 3 d printing  start by learning the basics.
This a is a great guide to troubleshooting prints.

ABS and PLA are the most common materials abs can be vapor smoothed so the surface can be dealt this way. Smooth on plastics sells a sealer for prints that can be brushed on.

Do you have access to a printer. Many schools libraries and makerspaces have good printers and may have staff that can help you.

I would actually recommend PETG since it can be submerged in water and it is food safe, so it shouldn't harm the fish. It's also a very strong material, so it will protect the pump from angry tuna tongue
