Topic: checking moisture content

I read moisture content should be between 50ppm and 250ppm before extruding. What is the name of the tool used to measure this?

Re: checking moisture content

Some polymers are more sensitive to moisture than others. It is fairly difficult in practice to measure moisture content of a polymer especially for the home DIY'er. Better to just dry the raw material prior to extrusion, if it is a polymer with high moisture sensitivity (like PLA).

Re: checking moisture content

There are moisture analyzers I have seen and worked on a few for customers that produce polymers.   These are precision electronic balances with a heater  and controls built in. You weigh a sample then set the heat temp and timer then reweigh. These are expensive lab devices. Not made for home use.
