This is also the software recommended for use with the new FT5 kit printer. As far as I know it is compatible with marlin firmware and therefore compatible with solidoodle printers. As with any control software you will need to configure to match your printer.
I would expect it to be every bit as good as RH but expect a few differences.

The stand alone Cura is more like the stand alone version of Slic3r - not RH
RH is strictly a host/control interface like Pronterface - the slicing is done by either Slic3r or Cura, which come bundled with RH - and RH will supposedly support Skeinforge as well, but I dont know that for a fact as I have never tried it. I know for sure that you can download the latest version of Slic3r and point RH to it to use through RH, but some of the features of the stand alone are not available for use, such as the modifiers for infill and different layer heights in one model. I would assume the same is true for Cura as well.
The only reason that Pronterface and Cura are the "recommended" software for use with the FT-5 is because that is what the owner of the company prefers. The FT-5 works just fine with RH & Slic3r (my preferred software) as do the 2020 Prusa and the Kossel. It is all just a matter of correct configuration.
