Topic: Davinci Steel Rod Replacment

Hello,

I have a 1.0a that has almost been completely replaced.  Thinking about replacing at least the X rods with the steel hardened cousins, so I can setup a dual extruder with real bearings.

Does anyone have the length/width dimensions for X/Y rod replacements?  I believe they are 8mm and around 380 (for the X)?  Having a hard time finding the measurements and where to custom order these things.  Ultimately if I can verify the length i might mount them differently.  It appears finding snap ring groves and M3 threads is the toughest parts.

Thanks,
Jim

Re: Davinci Steel Rod Replacment

You have to buy rods that are longer then have them cut down and the grooves machined into them. No one makes a drop in replacement.

Printing since 2009 and still love it!

Just because the original Davinci utilizes snap rings and m3 threads, shouldn't mean you need to use them with upgraded rods.  Especially the X carriage if desperate enough you could hot glue them in place wink

I am more interested to see if anyone has replaced the rods, if they have the dimensions and tips on replacements.  Will a prusa kit work?
