Topic: Camera ???

Hi so I decided to have a go at Pirvan,s instructions but when I go into camera mode all I get is a
Red X on the screen where the model shoud be and no laser light on
Any idea where to look?

Had a bit more time to play
The camera seems to freeze up when I select 5mp vid mode and the only way out is to reset to 1.9mp then reboot
I have also noticed that the lasers beem is quite wide compared to before I upgraded to 1.14
So any ideas on that

Please go to your settings screen, and post a snapshot of all your settings.

To print or, 3D print, that is the question...

Hi pirvan I have a problem on my laptop with a trojan so am working on a ipad

I have to reset the cam mode to any other setting and reboot before I can get the cam working again

Bill,

The image with the X through it is generated when there is a problem initializing the camera.  This is a fairly recent change, in previous versions the software would exit if the camera was not detected or could not be initialized successfully to a particular mode.  If it works in 1.9 MP but not in 5 MP, this usually indicates that there was not enough contiguous GPU memory.  This shouldn't happen if you are using the SD card that came with ATLAS 3D.  What do the following commands output?

uname -a
hostname
grep gpu /boot/config.txt

Grep gpu=. grep: gpu_mem=128
And yes I am using the original sd card
The character after the 7 in armv7 not shure what it is not on a uk keyboard

Do you still get the error if you change gpu_mem=128 to gpu_mem=256 in /boot/config.txt?

I just received this kit at the end of the year. Had the same issue with gpu_mem=128 settting. Changed to gpu_mem=256 in /boot/config.txt and camera starting working.

Uname= Linux atlas3d 4.1.7-v7+ #817 SMP PREEMPT sat sep 19 15:32:00 BST 2015 armv7l GNU/Linux

Hostname= atlas3d

Grep gpu=. grep: gpu_mem=128

Also, keyboard set to British not USA, change that as well.

Also had to mod etc/hosts to change name to atlas3d from raspbianpi.  Was getting unknown host error.

Working now. Glad I found this post otherwise I would still be disappointed.

are you in Britain? why change keyboard? did yours come with a rasberry PI or did you furnish one? and which version PI? all these can make a difference in settings operating system used, voltage cycles etc. seems more info is needed for some users as one size dont fit all.

Solidoodle 2 with Deluxe kit cover & glass bed with heater. and 2nd board SD2 used not 3rd and alum platform not installed yet still wood. also need cooling fan installed to board. use Repetier Host couple vers. Slic3r also have all free ware STL programs

n2ri: No I am in USA, just wanted to note that the imaged PC card that came with the Atlas 3D kit had the keyboard still mapped to UK (standard for Raspbian), not USA, not a big deal to change.  But what was a bigger deal was not being able to use the camera without changing the to gpu_mem=256 in /boot/config.txt.  This should be a note on the installation instructions.  And, OMG, pictures, pictures would be great for those of us who bought the new Kit Enclosure ($54.99). Following the text only installation instructions is a real PITA!

I here ya! man I am printing my inclosure now and as my posts in Atlas topics show. having tons of issues mostly due to not nearly enough info/instructions that show/explain all of it like most other such products have done for decades. also none of the parts that should slip/snap into other parts even though printed very nice are 1mm too wide to slide into parts intended. and with 36 parts to work with thats lots of fiddling to get to the point assembly video shows (well partly shows) plus no place was it told just how many rolls of filament and days of print time are required for those 36 parts. I didnt use that much filament the whole 1st year I owned my 3D printer LOL.

How big are you printing it
I used about 1.5lbs of pla and everything fitted perfect never even had to run a 3mm drill through the holes
The complete job took three days and as I was waiting for postage from the usa not a problem
The only problem I ever have is the uk taxman aka blackbeard lol

First, log into the Pi with login name "pi" and password of "raspberry".  Then type the following command.

sudo nano /boot/config.txt

Find the line that says gpu_mem=128 and change it to

gpu_mem=256

Press CTRL+x to save the file, and type reboot to reboot the Pi.
