Topic: Solidoodle board replacement

It seems my board has failed. The bed and extruder no longer heat. I have tried plugging in other hotends and nothing gets hot. I contacted solidoodle and like everyone else have not heard back. Has anyone replaced their board with something else? Will anything made for 3d printing work?

Thanks

Re: Solidoodle board replacement

There are many compatible boards.
It all depends on what you want for features.  If you just want basic stock features I'm sure someone has an old Sang or Printerboard they would be happy to sell.
Otherwise look into a Ramps 1.4

Printit Industries Model 8.10 fully enclosed CoreXY, Chamber heat
3-SD3's & a Workbench all fully enclosed, RH-Slic3r Win7pro, E3D V6, Volcano & Cyclops Hot End
SSR/500W AC Heated Glass Bed, Linear bearings on SS rods. Direct Drive Y-axis, BulldogXL
Thanks to all for your contributions

Re: Solidoodle board replacement

I have a Printrboard I could part with.
Firmware is set for an SD2 (small build), so you would need to flash an update.
PM me if you're interested.

Printit Mason and Printit Horizon printers
Multiple SD2s- Bulldog XL, E3D v5/v6/Lite6, Volcano, Hobb Goblin, Titan, .9 motor, Lawsy carriages, direct Y drive, fishing line...the list goes on
Filawinder and Filastruder #1870.....worth every penny!

Re: Solidoodle board replacement

Are there any boards that will allow it to run the same? on/off with LED on top and enough spots for all the fans?

Thanks

Re: Solidoodle board replacement

My board on my Workbench failed too.  Can only home X and Y.  Nothing else works.  Solidoodle said it sounded like the daughter board and then they went silent.  Haven't been able to get in touch with them since September.  Guess I'll have to get a new printer from someone else.  The Workbench was an inexpensive printer.  Guess you get what you paid for.

Re: Solidoodle board replacement

Don't give up on Solidoodle printer. My son and I both have failed boards on our Workbench printers and are in the process of changing to a RUMBA board. We both have changed the connectors on a few wires and connected some of the wiring to new posts, not a very hard process.
My son had to be out of town for a couple weeks, but when he gets back we will tackle the process of updating (flash) the board firmware to get our Solidoodle Workbench's back to printing.

Solidoodle Workbench, Rumba,

Keep looking forward, the horizon is not the limit!

Did you guys ever finish this?  I'm contemplating changing out my still working Solidoodle board for ramps or rumba.  I hate that my machine is tethered.

Of course I know what I'm doing.  I googled it.
