Topic: Firmware?

I haven't updated my firmware for my press. I am concerned because Solidoodle support, website etc... is down... Should I try to update it? It seems to be running ok?

Re: Firmware?

If your printer is working up to your expectations there will be no benefit to updating your firmware.  Unless you are planning on modifying or upgrading to an E3d hot end, leave well enough alone.

Printit Industries Model 8.10 fully enclosed CoreXY, Chamber heat
3-SD3's & a Workbench all fully enclosed, RH-Slic3r Win7pro, E3D V6, Volcano & Cyclops Hot End
SSR/500W AC Heated Glass Bed, Linear bearings on SS rods. Direct Drive Y-axis, BulldogXL
Thanks to all for your contributions

Re: Firmware?

I searched soliforum for "solidoodle support" and only found this post.  I'm  surprised there hasn't been any chatter here about the Solidoodle support site going down (expiring with Zendesk).  I noticed as I was trying to download the Mac version of Solidoodle's settings for Repetier (luckily, I had downloaded it and kept it on another computer).

Re: Firmware?

Hmm, I stand corrected.  Maybe "solidoodle" was only in the URL of the post so it didn't get returned.

Anyhow, it's a lousy situation with Solidoodle, and I guess this might be the signal that they are at the last stages - or maybe it's just an inadvertent mishap on their accounting department?! <not holding breath>

Re: Firmware?

The changes in the new formware are: activiating the bottom Z endstop, and new commands to adjust the Z-probe XY offset and the area that is Z-probed.

YMMV, but these weren't quite compelling enough to me to give my Press an entirely new opportunity to fail by upgrading. (Although I do run into the non-working Z-stop thing on rare occasion. Literally. smile )
