Topic: X axis issues

Hoping someone can help. Spent about a week and a half trying to calibrate the Press.  Then when I think I finally got it the x axis goes crazy half way through the print. X axis is getting stuck, making a grinding kind of sound, and when I try to home it, it moves in the opposite direction.  Sent Solidoodle a support email on the 23rd and haven't heard anything. Really want to get this setup, so many thing I want to print.

Thanks,

Jonathan

Re: X axis issues

sounds familiar check for a loose broken wire on the x home switch .

Re: X axis issues

Looked at all of the wires in the printer and they all look fine.

Re: X axis issues

Mine broke about 2 inches from the connector and was not visible and intermittent. Ended up replacing all the wires and soldering onto the board directly.

Re: X axis issues

limit switches normally work on a normally closed circuit. So a break in the wire is like activating the switch.

Re: X axis issues

Now my x stepper is working intermittently when it gets around 7" from home. Guessing when the wire gets close to its maximum extension. Now to figure out if its a break in the wire or the connector on the stepper. How many things will we have to re-engineer to get this thing reliable?

Re: X axis issues

Zip tying the stepper motor wire to the z stepper has seemed to cured my problem for now. How long until it breaks at the zip tie is the next problem.

Re: X axis issues

Ok, I abandoned the printer for some time because I was to busy with work.  Finally got back to trying to get it working, but have been unsuccessful. I checked all cables and everything looks good.  I even unplugged the x-axis stepper motor and connected it to the z-axis and it seems to be working fine, so I don't think it's the cable. Is there anywhere to get these cables for testing?  I have no clue what else to check.  Any help is greatly appreciated.  I cant wait to get this working!  Here's a video showing my problem.

It's not my actual machine, but it's the exact problem except that mine sometimes wont even move.  You just hear a humming noise when it doesn't move. Thanks
