Topic: Mac Software Question

Hi,

New guy here I have been using Google Sketchup and it "ok" for creating 3D files, but I'm having a hard time with editing other peoples .stl's for example I found a file on Thingiverse but would like to make some changes and it's nearly impossible for me to do so, is there another program that works? Or a better way of doing so? I'm on a Mac and my background is in Graphic Design Software such as Photoshop and Illustrator I have AutoCAD 2013 but I'm staring at it like it's all greek. Thanks in advance.

Re: Mac Software Question

This cleanup plugin can help simplify imported stl's for modification.

You could also go into the Mac App Store and download Autodesks free 123Design which exports perfectly to STL already.  There are some things to get used to, but it works so far without errors in Repetier and slicers.

Re: Mac Software Question

The problem I'm having especially with 123D is opening existing .STL's to edit and Tweak

Ya, the newest version doesn't do that.  They say they are adding it back in, but who knows when they actually will do that.  I am actually using a super expensive program to create my stuff till they fix add some things I need and asked Autodesk to add.  I am using Cinema 4d.  There is another free option, you can download Blender 3d, they have Windows, Mac, & Linux versions.  There is a learning cuve to that app though.
