Topic: Makerbot replicator 2 heater

I recently rebuilt my makerbot 2 extruder... New thermal couple new nozzle and new throat. It's been running better then ever for about 3 weeks the. Suddenly it has started giving me the (I dropped 30 degrees ) error.  When I restart it runs fine for a few minutes then sure enough drops temp. Seeing that the thermocouple is brand new from makerbot and it appears to be reading fine I'm guessing it's the heater since its years old.  Does this sound logical?(only had this guy for a month) also I have a spare e3d cartridge floating around. Will this work. I'd prefer to not go through makerbot again Since the last time it took them a month and 13 bucks to ship a tiny thermocouple.  Thanks a bunch!

The Makerbot is a 24 volt system. Your E3d cartridge is most likely a 12 volt one. I would buy another to be safe. If you want better deals on parts try this p[lace. I have a clone and it is where I get my parts..

People keep recommending him but I have a mk7 and most of his stuff is mk9. He lists a heating cartridge but no other info to see if it's compatible.
