Topic: Hello from Brazil

Hello all, my name is Alexandre and I'm from Sao Paulo, Brazil.

After a couple of weeks researching and talking to my wife I finally took the plunge and ordered my Solidoodle 2 a few days ago.

It will take a looooong while, for what I read here it will take about 12 weeks for the shipping, plus 1-2 weeks to arrive here in Brazil, 1-3 weeks for the customs, and then 1 more week for the printer to be available to pickup at my local post office, but only after paying about 60% tax.

I'll be trying to calm my anxiousness by studying  3d design (I'm a complete noob), using Cheetah3d for now, and reading a lot about 3d printing in general. Oh, and will post some random questions here :-)

See ya!

Welcome Alexandre, Don't hesitate to ask questions, the more you know about how the solidoodle works the better it will work for you when it arrives smile

The waiting will be terrible sad and the tax even worse:(

Re: Hello from Brazil

There's a Brazilian 3D printing company! smile they make PRUSAs and a few other reprap kits. I can't remember their name, but look around. I think they're even based in san paulo!

I heard about it when there was the fiasco about the makerbot going semi-closed-source.  The guy from brazil wrote a decent response blog post.

Re: Hello from Brazil

Tomek, I believe you're talking about Metamaquina.com.br

I saw it, but I thought it would be safer/easier to have a more robust printer, and I really didn't want to try to make my own printer with a reprap kit. And even with all the taxes the Solidoodle 2 will be a bit cheaper.

Only more 111 days to go!
