Topic: Increase Scan Volume?

Are there ways to increase the scan volume? Such as placing the scanner farther from the center of the turntable? Or putting a lens in front of the camera to widen its viewing angle?

I wouldn't be looking for a huge increase (sort of) but to possibly reach a volume somewhere in the realm of 14" diameter, 10" height.

If I missed a previous post that covers this, I apologize. I would appreciate being pointed in the right direction either way.

Thank you,

Jared

Re: Increase Scan Volume?

A wide angle lens could be put in front but you would need to correct for the lens distortion.  The easier way is to simply move the turntable further away.  This can be accounted for without modifying the software by entering the new distances on the Setup page.

Re: Increase Scan Volume?

So it could be as simple as moving the turntable farther away. The lasers would have to be adjusted as well I imagine, but that seems like it would be part of the normal calibration process.

After moving the table away could you drop the table down/raise the camera setup up to increase the vertical limit? How far could you push this method of increasing scan volume? What kind of accuracy loss could you expect to see from doing this?
