Topic: Printer HBP turns on when power applied (sainsmart 2 in 1)

I'm running into an issue with my printer where the HBP immediately turns on when the a 24v source is applied, whether the 5v source is connected or not. Any clues as to fixing it?

Hardware:
Sainsmart 2 in 1 board
Rigidbot big HBP
24v psu

How exactly is the bed wired? Is wired directly to the board? Id so then it sounds like the MOSFET on your 2 in 1 is shorted.

bed is wired direct to board. I did a resistance check, the MOSFET shorted out.

Well if you have the soldering skills you can source the MOSFET from Mouser or Digikey, or replace the board.

I'm really not sure how to work with flow-soldered stuff. Could i substitute a TO-220 package part?

You would still need to be able to remove the old part as the short would bypass the new part. But yes as long as you could find a TO-220 equivalent and make secure solder connections to the existing pads it would work.
