Interchangeable Glass with Kapton

One of biggest issues with the SD2 was how long it takes to to heat up the bed to print. Of course this also increases the time between each print as well.  I switched to glass bed + hairspray which has been working great but I would like to get away from hairspray.

I purchased a roll of Kapton from ebay that someone else mentioned in another thread.  It took a bit of time to get here, but was within the original delivery date that they noted.

The kapton came on a roll 150mm wide and 100ft long for ~$25.  It has a thickness of .06mm.

I followed the video below to attach the kapton to the glass, this can get tricky! My first try was a failure due to the kapton rolling up and adhering to itself during the application process.

I let it dry and then used a rag and isopropyl alcohol to clean off the kapton surface of any manufacturing oils, etc.

No bubbles! My first several prints went off without a hitch. However some of the parts from the last print seemed to stick a little hard and tore the kapton a bit.  The tape might be a little thin, I will keep you guys updated with info on more wear and tear.  At this price it still seems like a pretty good buy.
