Re: Programs for MAC

Autodesk does not have Mac compatible versions as far as I know...same for Solidworks and a lot of the other mainstream CAD products.

The best workaround to date is to install Windows on a VMware or Parallels partition on the Mac.  I have done this and it is pretty seamless.

Re: Programs for MAC

There are a lot of people waiting on a Mac version of Inventor. They do have Fusion360 available but it's so much different than Inventor, I haven't had the chance to learn how to use it.

Normally I use Inventor in a Win7 64bit virtual machine through VMWare. I haven't noticed any performance issues compared to running bootcamp.

Same here...and I like not having to reboot just to pull up Win 7.

That's right, I also could see much different between these two,  I had the pleasure of working in two programs. And I'd prefer to work in Inventor. But this time its not possible.
I'd really care about 3dsmax  because of its unquestionable usefulness. But do you know if there are any plans to create 3dsmax or inventor for Mac???

It isn't likely...most of the workstations that mechanical Engineers use are Windows based operating systems by a wide margin; so it is not worth the development costs to create a version for the Mac OS.  Mainstream Professional Graphic Design programs are mostly based on the Mac OS and are widely available.

Here is a link to what AutoDesk has to offer...the selections on the right side are Windows only, so don't be misled by the "Run Windows Products on the Mac" statement.  They are assuming that you are running Bootcamp:
