You can't print ABS on an open framed printer. Only PLA works on an open frame. To print ABS you will need to build an enclosure to keep the temperature around the printer stable and to protect it from drafts.
Your print is splitting due to uneven cooling caused by drafts and temperature variations.
Ok, odd why do I see so many printers for sale that are open that say they can print ABS? Well I guess I will have to bet building an enclosure.

For the same reason the XYZ Da Vinci 1.0 says it can print PLA. It is all about advertising.. Also printing and printing successfully are two different things except when it come to advertising.
All those printers out there you mention can print ABS, I think you miss my point. They just need special requirements not mentioned to do so. Just like the Da Vinci needs the special $100 head or modifications to do PLA. My CTC Dual can print any material if I meet the conditions needed for them.
While it can be seen as misleading that most printer companies (from a consumer level) do not include an enclosure while promising full ABS capabilities. Any Solidoodle owner, with the exception of Press and SD4 units, know very well about the lack of enclosure.
The upside to this?
It allows the user to fabricate their own enclosure to suit their particular needs. Some just need sides and a top. Others have curious kids or maniacal cats, which require even the electronics to be covered. And then what if the user wants to change to say a direct Y drive? The enclosure may have to change yet again.
You may not own a Solidoodle, but prehaps this thread on cases may spark some ideas for ya
Back on topic, Carl is correct that you need and enclosure for ABS printing....unless calibration cubes are the extent of use. There are a few materials that can be printed without an enclosure, but ABS is not one of them
