Re: Filament Storage Ideas?

Pelican case. not cheap. have you tried different arrangements of spools to better use available space? maybe turn rolls 90 degrees or lay flat? I have done this puzzle b4 on boxes and eliminated need for packing plus squeezed more in. also try stagering items with one row nesting between round items in other rows like honeycomb.

Solidoodle 2 with Deluxe kit cover & glass bed with heater. and 2nd board SD2 used not 3rd and alum platform not installed yet still wood. also need cooling fan installed to board. use Repetier Host couple vers. Slic3r also have all free ware STL programs

Re: Filament Storage Ideas?

I see that I am not the only one who has been struggling to find a good filament storage solution. One of my main problems was moisture affecting my filament. As all the "electric dryer" solutions or similar dry storage solutions were too bulky, complicated or inconvenient for me, I went with a sealable vacuum bag (takes away the air with the moisture) together with an added desiccant solution.

The silica-gel I am using can be used to monitor the moisture saturation level and has the added advantage that after drying it in the oven, it can be re-used indefinetly. Once the air is vacuumed out, the four spools in the bag become one big pack, which is easily stackable if necessary.

I have written a short article about it, for those which are interested in a cheap and easy dry filament storage solution. Just check it out on my website: 3dprintingforbeginners.com
