Is anyone talking about Sindoh 3DWOX? (Page 2 of 2)

not that i work for xyzpring, but xyzpring filament is actually cheaper, xyzprinting $23 v.s. Sindoh $29 for 600g spool. Xyzprinting also have but 12 filament and get printer for free deal too. on the other hand, i heard xyzpring customer service is horrible but Sindoh customer serivice is great, so i guess Sindoh is not designed for 3d printing fans that loves to tinker with your printer.

Very good discussion recently.  I just came across this post from google and would like to chip in some more info.  We (as ESUN) worked with Sindoh for years.
Disclaimer:  We are now offering Sindoh's 3DWOX 1 and 2X printers.

Sindoh listened to customer's comments and now offers the new printers with open filament support.   The 3DWOX 2X will soon get firmware upgraded to support open filaments too.

As discussed recently, there are good sides on both proprietary cartridge and open filaments.  Customers can choose whichever way accordingly.

Proprietary cartridges are thoroughly tested and made sure a smooth operation.  The proprietary chip also allows full auto loading and measurements.  It is really a plug & play machine and requires much less tuning and maintenance compared to other mainstream printers.  The added chip and special spool made it more costly than popular open filaments.  (By the way the cartridge is not refillable because the chip is per color and also the chip is one time use only.  If it was refillable we would have offered the printers long time ago.  We kept pushing Sindoh to make it open.)

Open filament opens a whole new world for this great printer, with the sacrifice of full auto loading and filament measurement.  But you can now use all the 24 colors of compatible filaments instead of the 6 colors for cartridge.  You can even start to use PETG, ASA and some other filaments too.

Here are some guaranteed compatible filaments and were fully tested both by Sindoh and us:
All 1KG eSUN ABS+ filaments to replace the ABS cartridge
All 1KG eSUN PLA+ filaments to replace the PLA cartridge

PETG and ASA were tested but are under more testing so that we can give better support to customers.

The 3DWOX 1 also has HEPA filter, 40 db noise, remote monitoring, flexible metal heated bed etc..  I can provide more info if needed.

First my disclaimer - I do not work for any 3D printer company.  I have a 'real' job.

I bought one of these about 12 months ago based on a recommendation from a friend.  I was not interested in 3D printing as a hobby - that is to say I'm not looking to build a printer and play with the thing all the time.  I don't do this with my other printers and I don't want to do it with this one.  Its a tool to get a job done and that is what I wanted.

That being said, I knew that proprietary filament could be expensive and I decided that I coudl live with that.

This thing is fantastic - I print all kinds of stuff on it and seldom have to print twice.  I do calibrate/level it about once a month but that is really only a matter of telling it to level and then turning X number of click on any of the 4 corners.

So, I mentioned that I got it 12 months ago.  Well 3 days before the warrenty ran out the bed stopped heating.  The error message made it unusable.  I reachout out to Sindoh who put me in touch with their US repair partner.  They covered Fed-Ex shipping both ways and repaired the unit with no hassle.  It did take about 2 weeks (half of which was shipping time).  I was very happy with the warrenty work - especially with me opening the ticket 3 days before the 1-year mark and technically shipping it after the 1-year mark.  They said since my ticket was opened inside the time window I was fine and they lived up to it.

I foudn this forum because I have finally run into a challenge with the filament.  It isn't the cost but the options.  I'm making some medals and I want to print in gold and yellow is the closest thing.  This is for something I will be doing monthly so I really want to solve for it.  I've printed some in yellow and sprayed gold sparkly paint on it and that works ok (it also looks great on black), but I want to go with gold and Amolen has a filament that is considered perfect for my application.  I decided to order some and I put it inside an empty blue cassette with a chip.  I'm printing with it right now and the only thing that happens is the printer tells me at first that I may be low on filament (because that chip knows I used up the spool), but it gives me the option to continue and I am continuing.  I am pretty sure I can continue forever as I did a refill once before and the chip seemed defective so I just left the old chip in place and always told it I was ok risking running out of filament.  So, my question for the forum - and any other Sindh users out there is what has been your experience with 3rd party filament in the standard cassette?  And when teh spools are of different size how are you dealing with that.  For my current print job that is only 4.25 meters I simply manually put 5 meters into the empty spool.  I don't think I want to do that long term and rerolling a spool of filament seems like it could lead to snags.

So a few comments.  Their NEW printer supports 3rd party filament.  They did not make that change retro-actively so my printer, specifically the 3dwox DP200 does not have that support.  They could potentially add the software support easily but they would have to make a way for me to use a different size spool.  Maybe with a special cartidge that is adjustable??

Since I've decided to use 3rd party filament anyway I'm here looking for anyone else who is going down that path and to share ideas.  So far I've simply rolled the amount of filament I want onto an empty Sindoh spool.  This is working for me but really isn't scalable and leads to significant waste.  For example I am making something that needs 4.25meters of filament and I'm putting aout 6 on the spool.  1/3rd waste is not optimal.  Especially considering I'm actually looking at more expensive filament because i want special colors/materials, as opposed to just looking to use cheaper black filament.

On the warranty.  My experience was superb and it should have given you a warm and fuzzy feeling.  Honestly everyone I know with one of these printers loves it and loves the company.  Not like an Apple level of insanity, but close.  In my case it was a ribbon cable that was not a socket connection and for some reason it would not pass power - probably not a common problem and something a 'hobbyist' might have fixed themselves but I had no interest in doing so.  They indicated they will stand behind it if it breaks again and based on my experience with them I believe them.

I am trying to address some of the suggestions using the 3dwox 1 printer.  Basically since the cartridge uses eSUN PLA+ and ABS+ filaments, I have started to respool sindoh refill with any other colors.  This way, users can essentially print any colors they want and still have the fully automatic filament measurement and loading/unloading.  And the filament is perfectly compatible since they are essentially the same material but just different colors.  We are the largest eSUN distributor in US and we can make this happen.  You can also use these spools in old DP200/201 but I would not advise to do so for factory warranty concerns.

The major reason is that some of our popular colors are not available in these refills.  Such as cool white, fire engine red, orange and silver.  The standard cartridge uses our warm white as the "white".   

If this is welcomed by users, I may expand to wood and other exotic filaments as well.

Yes Sindoh make printers as easy to use as those 2D ink/laser printers. 

In addition to existing Sindoh PLA refill colors, we are now offering below extra colors:
Cool White, Light Blue, Fire Engine Red, Orange, Silver, Peak Green and Natural

You won't see any printing difference between them and original refills. They don't come with chip.

Sorry I don't have wax filaments.  And we don't manufacture wax filaments yet.

no that link goes to our standard 1KG spools.  Sindoh compatible spools must be 700g as the spool is smaller in order to fit into cartridge.

this effort is to support Sindoh customers and try to make this great printer greater   It is still in trial mode.  Maybe one day we can put up on amazon if there is a bit volume. 

I can have olive green as refill in the next few months after we get this trial going fine.  I hope people like our effort and can help get a bit volume.  It doesn't make economical sense to respool just one roll.  We typically at least get 10 rolls each time for a color.

As far as burnt orange, it is not even available in our standard PLA+ (we have 25 colors).  There are just too many different shades of a color.

I signed up to the forums to respond to your post. I've been reading all over the web and there is surprisingly little information on this. Is there a way to override the "empty filament" warnings? (I have yet to complete a roll of filament, so I am not sure what error it will give, just trying to plan ahead.)

I was fortunate enough to win a DP200 in a design contest, which is awesome, but there is no distributor of their filament in South Africa (which is a bummer!). I would like to start using generic filament, probably rigid.ink since it is my usual "go-to", but they also can supply without a spool, which might work perfectly.

I imagine it is going to be a problem to load ABS into a cartridge with a PLA chip? Guess I may have to order at least one original cartridge with and ABS chip, which I can then refill afterwards?
