Thanks, WardJr. My filament spool has been hanging on the side of the printer for the last 18 months, so not sure about humidity. Our house is pleasantly humidity neutral. Elmoret, I think it must be v5 since it doesn't have the PTFE tube built in.

I was wondering if anyone had printed up an extruder mount assembly with a tubular channel in it to escort the filament from the rollers to the extruder entrance, kind of an inverted V shaped thing. I think I see a way to make a separate piece that would slide in on top of the extruder. I'll take a crack at it and, if it works, I'll put it on Thingyverse or someplace.

Tube up to the drive is as good as it is going to get. The only latest development in that area is the E3d V6 that has the PTFE tube as part of the assembly. I can't help but think you have something else going on though. Mu guess would be moisture in the filament. I have had this happen before as the moisture boils off it creates back pressure.

OK, after 1 1/2 yrs away, I have my SD3 (E3D extruder) up and running again. Printed a nic part last night then, almost finishing, the filament comes crawling out of the extruder like a mile long tapeworm. Back in the day (2013) we used to stick a pice of tiny hollow tube between the drive cogs and the extruder entrance to keep the filament from a-wanderin. But, I figured I'd check and see if there have been any quantum leaps in filament management since then. I looked in the Wiki but didn't find anything.

BTW, I thnk we are missing the boat by not really using the WIKI to its best advantage. It would be so nice to look stuff up by topic and get the latest thunking rather than having to wade through months of posts. But, that's just me. When I get better established again, I will sure try to contribute to it.

Thanks for your help with the filament question.
