Thanks mdr and sheilds for your help. Just so you know, I was printing at the default slic3r speeds.

Anyway to I decided to get kisslicer set up and try it out, all with the same settings, and the difference was amazing. The tops were completely filled and the print looked great.

Sheilds, changing the temperature might work but you can't always be there to know when your print is just about to finish.

So I'll go back into slic3r and bump up my extrusion multiplier a bit and see how that goes.

I attached the picture of the kisslicer print below.

Many thanks,
Matt

when you get to the last 6 layers on the print try playing with the extrusion heat manually.

Could be under extrusion, run a single wall cube test and let us know how it goes.

Also, maybe try decreasing your solid layer and top solid layer speed. I've noticed when I go too fast it does not really have as much time for the flat part of the nozzle to really press down into the plastic and make it nice and flat, so you end up with thinner lines than if you had gone slower.

Maybe also try an STL with more faces too.

First image looks like underextrusion.
Second one underextrusion, or delamination and/or backlash.

But I think if Slic3r would put shells for parts which are visible from top or bottom (outer surface) as well regardless of perimeter count it would greatly improve visual appearance.
I mean these parts:

Of course you can increase the perimeter count, but that greatly increases print time.
Anyone else noticed that?

This seems to be a recurring issue for all of my prints with round tops. When the circles start getting smaller and smaller, my printer leaves holes in the top. I don't know if this is an issue that can be solved by increasing the thickness of my shell or not. I couldn't find anything else about this on the internet so I'm hoping I can get some help here.

Does anyone know how to fix this?
