Thing to keep in mind is this technology and support around it is still very young relatively. Am breezing through any issues I have now simply because even with any issues I've had, it is so much better than the first gen printer I had that cost 3 times as much - that includes my impression on the support too.

Hello Dazee,

I'm more or less using the machine in tandem with designs. The money comes from that. I wanted an inexpensive unit that I could use to rapidly print a design that I created so I could just have it.

Makes my life easier.

But I do agree. Service is terrible. I really don't know who I am talking to, but I can tell you it's crazy how they treat people who purchased from them. My next call will prob be to the Attorney Generals Office to complain about there customer service and warranty process. You know it's bad when they tell you they don't replace the printer... and they are the ones who built it!

Sarge

If you're going to be running a business off it, I think you'd be better off sending it back, getting a refund and going for something that while maybe more expensive, would be better suited to depend on for a business. This is a budget hobby printer and I would have thought the propriety filament system would make it uneconomical for a business use.

Have to admit the customer support isn't great, especially where I've tried to deal with the US center. I've had more success with my local one in Japan once I had English rep on the line.

At least in the USA they will let you buy spare parts from them...

Hey All,

Just a quick update for you. Since I have only had the printer about a week, I talked with XYZ, which has the worst customer support I have ever seen in my life.

I am sending the printer back for a replacement. This puts me way behind in my projects though. I have a couple customers that were expecting prints of some parts I had created. Thankfully They have at least one for now.

XYZ won't tell me how long it will take. I really still have a hard time understanding why they need an invoice to prove that someone bought one of their units. They have a list of serial numbers... they should know.

I'm tempted to just stop payment and go get a different model of printer all together at this point.

I will keep you guys posted!

Sarge

Two black bars on the LCD may just mean that the bootloader kicked in because the firmware is not there, or that something is very wrong with your controller board (bad). If you see a USB device pop up when the printer is turned on, you can try to flash Repetier on it using the Arduino IDE, or directly one of the precompiled binaries with the bossac application.

As long as the screen comes up amd shows normal status there is nothing wrong. It will not auto home or anything. You have to put the carriage back into the back right corner, or go into positioning on the lcd and select home all.

Hi!

So has anyone ever seen this issue?

Started the bed leveling with paper like i read about here. I let the machine warm up after siting for about 2 days with the power off, and had no issues. Let it get just prior to the print and shut it down to level.

Once I was finished, I turned the power back on..... and nothing. The LCD in the front showed the start up lines and the fans kick on. But then nothing. No initialization or anything. The printer only has about 30 hours on it since I got it.

I sent XYZ an email, but I figured I would see if anyone else has seen this.

Thanks for the help!

Sarge
