It is hard to tell from the pictures but it looks like the guide rods are mostly clean in within the range of motion.
I would grease them up a little and use it. Spend some time searching the forum, look at the WIKI and pay attention to the STICKY topics. There is a whole section about printing on glass and Hairspray. That seems to be the most common practice to get your prints to stick. Just go buy a cheap piece of hardware store glass cut to size. Spray one side with (I prefer Aqua-Net) Hairspray liberally and stick that wet side to your bed. You can leave the Kapton tape on. Then spray a light mist of hairspray on the top and let it dry. You will want to heat/cool cycle your bed a few times with the glass in place to get it to stick to the bed. Then you are ready to print! Well not really look at the WIKI in the calibration section and actually do all the calibrations, then your ready to print

Rust on Z Drive Shaft

I picked up a Solidoodle 2nd Gen Expert off Craigslist last week. After getting everything setup I noticed rust on the Z drive shafts. I was able to remove most of the rust, but I was wondering if I should replace them or not. Can they be replaced, i didn't see any in the parts section of the site. I haven't been able to print anything because I've had issues getting my prints to stick to the build platform, which I am sure is user error. Other than that everything seems to be in working order. No noticeable wobble on z-axis.

What are you all thoughts?
