I will try that and see how it goes. I also bought the Tools pack from XYZ which includes a wire tool for cleaning out the nozzel. I am hoping that will fix the problem if not, on to Step 2 which looks like taking the head all the way off the printer.

That would redirect your filament as you explain. They did test the units and usually just cut the filament off near the top of the head so you can see it and know it was tested. Its possible your exposed piece got broken off.

Just go on youtube and search for Da Vinci 1.0 head tear down, head removal, not feeding, the list can go on. Only heard of the issue, never investigated it.

My exact issue now is that the rollers grab the filiment. I never see anything coming out of the print head. If I try to print anything the filament comes out. But looks like it did not go through the print head but through a side hole. Because the filament is not melted. If I push the filament while loading I can make the filament come out of this same hold. So, any other suggestions? Do you think there is something wrong or should I keep trying to reload the filament?

I am having concerns with unloading the filament. Goes like this:

1) Use the buttons and LCD to select unload;
2) Head begins to heat;
3) Filament motor drives - backwards I assume to pull the filament out;
4) Motor "clicks" slowly then faster in a series of bursts. Filament does not move except to shake a bit. LCD says to pull filament out;
5) By operating the filament release lever I can remove the filament but it takes more force than I would expect. I don't need to wrap it around my hand but it needs a pretty decent tug.

Is this normal?
