Thanks for the suggestion.
I finally tracked down the dimension part of Skeinforge and it was turned off (I think) and I turned it on.
I also found out how to turn on comments in the G-code which is helpful for de-bugging this. When I regenerated the code I now get two versions, an uncommented one and a commented one.
Comparing the two I see several instances of the extruder being turned on and off in the commented version, but none in the uncommented version.
So turning dimension on didn't help solve the problem. Is there a easy of resetting skienforge to it's baseline parameters?

I have a condition where the filament stepper motor will extrude happily when I click on the extrude button but will not extrude (stepper motor doesn't turn) when I try to print. This has occurred on new g-code files from yesterday and today. If I use an older g-code file everything works OK. Sample code attached
Any ideas on what to check next?
