Sure I'd be willing to do this. I can probably finish it by the weekend. Is it okay to refer to external sources of documentation for flashing the boards? I only have experience flashing the RUMBA, but the rest of it is pretty standard. As far as hookup goes I can get pictures of a sang and printrboard no problem.

I'm running behind but I'll still do my best to finish this weekend.

Yes, I want to do this at some point.  Still waiting on my printer, and since I'm a complete newbie I will most likely wait until I get some experience printing with stock equipment first.  It will be great if there's a step-by-step guide by then.

So it looks like the front face of the L bracket sticks out about 3mm further than the front face of the IM carriage.

That's great news, it means if the bracket was notched to get to the stepper's lower left hole, you could use a stock Lawsy MK5. The other option would be modifying the MK5 to add a runner up the left side to get to the top left hole.

You'd also need to either lower the Z probe or raise the L bracket. I'd guess raising the L bracket is easier.

Options: print a spacer plate that goes between the L-bracket and the IM carriage. Looks like you'd need 27mm or spacing or so. Could also laser cut 4 of them at 6.35mm each.

There's about 73mm between the center of the stepper shaft and the tip of the nozzle on an E3Dv6/SD3. If you get a chance, could you measure the same distance on the press? It looks like about 60mm from the photos I've seen.

The stepper I linked is rated for more holding torque than both of the above.

My only fear with doing an E3D is the 1/16 microstepping on the board. I had no choice but to go to a 1/32 microstepping driver on my SD2 to fix moire issues when I went to an E3D.

So replace the stepper instead.

+1 Wish I actually ordered one to begin with   Sitting here with an SD2 is like reading yesterday's news...

Also, if you could build a geared extruder drive into the new carriage, should help with the moire.

I think you should be able to drop in some vertical holes to the existing MK5, maybe notch it a bit at the back. Gonna be tough to do it without one in front of me, maybe I shouldn't have cancelled
