the pic I showed in the initial post is pretty darn good if you ask me. I know it wasn't printed on a davinci but it is something to shoot for. I think it has to do with extrusion rate not being calibrated correctly. the bad thing is we cant control that in the da-vinci software.

I posted a thread with a calibration cube with a similar finish. Now that I have gone to Repetier host that uses Slic3r I get lines instead of paste. I think it is just a matter of poor control.

XYZware and its slicer assume a fixed filament diameter and anyone who has been printing a while knows there is now such thing a filament can vary by as much as .1 from roll to roll. So if you assume a diameter of 1.75 but you actually have 1.8876 or similar then you will over extrude. Like wise if you actually have 1.6334 then you will obviously under extrude. Real slicing software allows you to input your actual measured diameter so it can take that into account when setting the feedrate per layer.

I have seen .1 layers and quality and those samples you printed are far from them to be honest.

From what I can tell you have slack in your belts and maybe play in your pullies. Did you do the shims that where advised for holes not being round? It may also be belt tension not tight enough and your speed could be too fast as well. If you print too fast for fine detail the print head cannot make the direction change quick enough and you get over shoot.

I would try this at highest res and lowest speed.
