Hi all, Just wanted to share my experiences with my SD3.

I have my solidoodle 3 for 11 months now, even though I was getting acceptable prints from the stock hot end, I upgraded to the E3D, I love it! I get consistent results down to 100 micros. I wasn't happy with any of the fan ducts on thingiverse so I added a fan duct of my own design, it's still a work in progress but I get very good prints and strong bridges. My only concern is that it's too long and sometimes if a print lifts it crashes, but again that is rare. Talking about lifted prints: I added a glass bed with my temp set to 80C yes that's right 80C not 105! And I use hair spray with a .06mm separation between my bed & hotend (adjusted by setting z offset to .21 with a .27 gap), and first layer speed around 20mm^2 that is really all I ever need, if I do get lifting it's always do to bed leveling issues. One last thing that greatly improved the quality & consistency of my prints is I added a simple drying box just before the filament goes into the printer. I live in Florida & humidity here is always a factor. It's really a very simple design: I bought a plastic file-folder case added a bar to hold the filament reel, mine can hold three at one time, I added 2" cat litter to the bottom and drilled holes so the filament has a way out. It works great! buy 1.75mm filament but it comes out of the dryer at 1.67! So, the filament is dense & dry with no bubbling !

Again I love the solidoodle and I would recommend it to anyone, My only wish is that they had a dual extruder model back then, but I don't plan on buying another machine any time soon.
