Hi all

I have done some more troubleshooting which involved re-installing everything from scratch, including Windows to make sure everything is "clean".

I think I will rule out Repetier at this stage, I'm still experiencing problems after the re-install and I now think it's the printer itself that creates problems.

I will contct Solidoodle and see what they say about this.

Thanks, I'll have a look at the registry tomorrow then.

It might have slipped, but it's printing just fine from Pronterface, that sort of rules out the laptop or the OS itself I believe.

Since it seems to happen in Win8 but not in 7, it probably has something to do with that os. Is this a different machine, or did you do an upgrade from 7 to 8? if an upgrade, did you re-install repetier afterwards, or use the existing one? You may want to try and clear out repetier and go from fresh, or maybe try a different USB port/new repetier profile.

Clearing out repetier can be a hassle. All settings are stored in the windows registry under CURRENT_USER/Software/Repetier. so you may have to go in and delete that, then start repetier again and re-do the profiles.

Edit: I see this is a fresh install. Try clearing out the repetier settings and re-doing them from scratch. Also, make sure you are not running anything in the background while printing. This can cause pauses. I run mine off my linux server which doesn't do much aside from file hosting and some light web hosting.

If all of that fails, you may want to either pick up a cheap dedicated machine or a control panel. I am backing the VikiLCD on kickstarter. it will take some soldering but looks really slick. Check the thread here: http://www.soliforum.com/topic/796/new-lcd/

Hi all

I'm having some issued with my printer which I'm not able to figure out, hopefully someone can point me in the right direction.

I started with a default install (Pronterface & Skeinforge) and this worked fine. Due to some issues with the walls on my print I wanted to try out Repetier & Slic3r, especially to get higher resolution on the prints.

Repetier worked fine until I messed up the profiles when trying to get more decent prints.

I ended up installing everything (Repetier 0.82 with the attached Slic3r) from scratch on a laptop (Windows 8) and now I'm having a hard time getting it to work. Obviosly I thought the problem was related to Windows 8 (previous computer was running Windows 7), but after installing Pronterface & Skeinforge I have changed my mind.
It's working with the standard Solidoodle installation.

I have two issues with Repetier:
1: When adding STL I get an error message telling me: "Too many objects on printer bed for automatic packing"
This error turned up after changing the printer settings from the default to what is recommended for the Solidoodle printer.

2: Slicing works fine and all controls of the printer is working as they should. However, after starting the print it stops after a period of time.
The time it takes before it stops varies from print to print.

I have tried different STL's with no change.

From what I have read I believe Repetier stores settings in the Windows registry and therefore it's very difficult to remove settings and start from fresh.
Is it possible at all to get rid of these settings without re-installing windows?

Hope someone can help with this since it's getting quite frustrating.
