SD 4 has a cooling fan in Motherboard enclosure,
so you may only add a cooling unit to X motor,
And add a 8"x8" glass, if you just print ABS or PLA,
use SD 4 new metal extruder and hot end that
Is good enough, later if you tried it, you don't like it,
Then you can spend money to buy E3d, etc.
Ask SD 4 users for mod on SD 4!

The fan at the bottom of the motherboard enclosure has kept my SD4 humming along nicely for almost a year now (and some of my prints run over 24 hours!).

I did add a fan to the X motor using this: https://www.dropbox.com/s/ejfea69qmm3j5 … 2.stl?dl=0

I don't recall where I got the original. It's a fan mount intended to simply slide over the motor, but it fit too loose on mine, so I modified it for a tighter fit. Screw a 40mm fan to the bottom, slide it up onto the motor, and connect the fan wires.

The Y and Z motors on the SD4 seem to dissipate the heat nicely through the metal of the case.

I also found that correctly adjusting the vREF on the motherboard helped reduce the heat on the stepper motors, as well as improving print quality.

There are so many hacks and mods where should we start.
Put a fan on the board to cool the steppers.
Consider upgrading your PSU and switch to an E3d all metal hot end.
That should keep you busy for a while

I just got a solidoodle 4 after a ton of fighting with solidoodle but i will leave that for another story. What I am here for is 2 things what mods are out there for the motherboard and what cooling systems can I put on the steppers to keep them cool because they do get very hot. Finaly what are other mods would you recoment because you probably have more experience than I. Please give me links for any objects that you would recommend.
