I have been using it successfully since December on the AIO 1.0, which uses the same MB/controller card as the newer v1.0A and 2.0A duos.

It main purpose is just to keep the card from coming out during shipping.  Just use an exacto knife and pick at it on the metal area and it should flake right off. The nail remover is acetone and it might damage the housing on the card.

Very few of us have the new board. Most of  us here now all bought the older models. Yes the extension works with the older models that use a standard SD card. So it should work with the micro as well.
