Hi. Sorry for reviving the old topic. I have recently bought a XYZAP v2 PLUS and unfortunately I had upgraded the firmware before knowing it's problems. My DaVinci 1.0 has now the 2.0.1 firmware version and I can't downgrade it, even following the steps in many websites. Does anybody know if there is any way to downgrade it? I would appreciate any help. Thank you.

Hi ,

Carl_m1968 has mentioned Atmel Studio 6 to access the Da Vinci 1.0a Firmware. I don't know you but you seem well informed about the Da Vinci printers.

I have the new version, 1.0.3 and would like to access the firmware thru Atmel Studio 6.
could you please post a detailed instructional tutorial on how to access and save the stock firmware.

On a post people said that it is possible to erase the firmware without touching the jumper pads in Arduino 1.5.8.
Is this possible ? And if it is how do you do it.

Does anyone know the better firmware and software to run on a Da Vinci 1.0a ?

The company has been a great let down in every way, I'm glad we have forums for help.

       Thank You to all posters!

I have one of the first gen 1.0 mainboards with the large SD card on the right and the jumper pins. I was running firmware 1.2.3 on it and everything was just fine. Then they came out with that crippling 1.2.4 which would not allow unloading of the filament. Then they came out with the hot fix which took it to 1.2.5, which I guess worked on some of the newer boards, but not on mine. The only thing that changed is when the head got to 135C the extruder motor came on where before nothing happened. So after going back and forth with XYZ they finally told me to sent them the mainboard and they would fix or replace it. It's on it's way to Poloma CA right now so I'm anxiously waiting for the return board...

Guys, correct me if I'm wrong, but we should be pulling master now instead of testing right?

So, you would want to clone, if you have git, or download and explode the zip file. There a button to download the zip on the right side of the page.

You will need to download the arduino ide 1.5.8 here arduino.cc/en/Main/Software#toc3

Once you have the ide installed you can use it to open the repetier.ino file. Where ever you unzipped the repetier zip file you'll see a folder structure like src\ArduinoDUE\Repetier. That's where the ino file is. When you open that file it will open the other files in the project including the one you need to change, Configuration.h.

Make sure that you are successful with each step.

Also, be careful, when I finished my bed was WAY high and would have hit the bed if I hadn't carefully followed instructions.

Hope this helps.

If you are referring to the instructions on the GIT hub page. Then step 5 is simply stating that you need to open the Arduino IDE and open the repetier.ino file.

If you have not downloaded the Arduino IDE, you should get it to proceed past step 5.

Get the IDE here: arduino.cc

I have not yet tried to flash my Da Vinci 1.0 yet, but will attempt it tonight after work. Keep us updated on the progress.

Hope that helps.

carl_m1968, that would require the firmware to be unlocked, which I believe is not the case. In any case, as documented by a few of us over at voltivo dot com none of the official XYZ firmware releases works on this particular version. Once you have erased it, there is currently no way to get a working FW on board the new edition.

Currently the best bet is luc's FW on github where current the stepper motor control and LCD at least works (yesterday I tried it using the patches posted on the voltivo dot com forum).

If somebody could supply some clear pictures of the mainboard where the silkscreen can actually be read we could compare the outputs and inputs and see if there was a major change. I doubt it but they may have swapped some IO lines. Which would mean the firmware would not work. Some body just needs to install Atmel studio on their PC. They then should be able to dump the hex file from one of these newer boards through ISB and then upload it to a file share or cloud for others to recover with.
