ya ive learned a ton from this printer. im using it to make parts for a potentially $570 million invention until i can make enough money to get the molds for injection molding. you can see it at dudad.net if youd like but ive been thinking about and looking in to e3d extruder myself

thanks guys for the advice, i really appreciate everything i've learned from this forum. i'm thinking it may be a problem with the board in the extruder so i broke down lol and ordered a new extruder assembly from xyz. ill let you all know if it works when i get it in next weekend. thanks again

I unplugged the plug on the right side of the extruder to clean the tip. When I did that the fan went off completely and the lcd screen display, showed 10c. Definitely ohm it out to see if you're getting connection there. Start with the easy stuff!

If both thermistors only show ten degrees, then there is break in your wire between the head and the main board. i would try to ohm them out with a DMM. If both wires show continuity from the head to the PCB then there is an issue with the main board. I have not looked at the thermal circuits to see if they have discrete AD converters or if they are part of the CPU. If they are discrete then the one for the head is bad. If the connections for the head and the bed are the same on the board you could just try to swap them and see if the readings stay the same or the problem follows the connection. Just lower your temps to avoid over heating. Also if it is not reporting the correct temp, it may not be setting the correct temp and your head could be getting way too hot. As with the current issue the machine would think the head is always 10 degrees.
