I am using the 0.4mm nozzle on the e3d.

So far I'm using the same retracting settings except for an extra mm of length.
30mm/s. 2mm length. I haven't been able to test any further unfortunately after the tanks. My order of filament from makergeeks.com was on backorder so I'm dry atm. I will be doing extensive testing once more comes in.

As for the feed system, im using the linked extruder from thingiverse and the parts that came with the bowden e3d hotend. Im still using the drive gear, idler and stepper that came with my doodle.

yeah saw signature. have problems when searching topic history very far back on users here for some reason like once archived search eng ignores them.

what is a Rev E printerboard, and RtRyder changes? and whats with external Y axis motor? and GT2 pulleys? M3 Z screw... never heard of these mods. are some of the newer mods like them better? like several motherboad mods now plus duel extruder stuff and firmware/software etc. I think some have to be done just to swap out original extruder with E3D v6

That is a Solidoodle. A Bowden design kicks the extruder elsewhere then feeds the filament through a tube into the barrel of the hotend. Doing this requires a different extruder and different carriage.

This allows the ability to reach faster speeds since the weight of the motor is placed elsewhere, but some users claim this is less accurate....but it seems accusedmonk is doing quite well for himself!

yes most print better in upright position than vertical. and I use mostly 2mm with .15 infill and support set at .31mm in
advanced top and bottom 8 layers solid.

some times used 1mm layers

those pics are very promising so far. have you got stl files for parts needed to install the bowden? and can the extruder you used do higher temp materials and flex filaments also?

Hmm, those tanks are really small. I'm going to reprint it upright and see how it comes out, but for being little bigger than a penny I wouldn't say its too bad. Looking through the ones others have printed they all scale them up about twice what it normally is.

I get better definition of course along the Z, but the area that it has to print when standing upright is so small my first one fell off ha. I'm going to bury the model a bit to make the bottoms flat, then I'll post another pic.

The one on the left is printed upright, then the previous one for comparison. It's mainly just better definition in the wheels.

Here is the upright printed turret, I didn't think the barrel would fair too well, but this PolyPlus filament is amazing.
