i don't throw them in hot. but i still prefer to give it a short amount of time in the freezer because it pretty much guarantees no need to pull/scrape on the print. i just have several sheets of glass so i can go from one print to another. let the others cool down, put them in the freezer a little bit later if i want them off that day, leaving them at room temp over night also removes them completely usually.

i wear gloves any time i handle glass. lowes cut me one that had a very rough spot on an edge and it cut the hell out of my finger (no stitches needed, thank god). don't like to risk it with glass. definitely don't want exploding glass everywhere.

I only have anecdotal evidence to support that leaving your machine homed for a while is a bad idea--I've had to bend my Z switch back a few times from leaving it homed overnight or for a couple days when I didn't have time to print.

That being said, yes, it would probably be better if they didn't do this, because the bed also gets in the way of removing the red clips on the X carriage--I had a really hard time with this because the bed prevented me from getting my fingers underneath adequately. It'd probably be a good idea if they filled the printer with peanuts or something too; might stop people from getting printers with broken Z rods. You can't control UPS, but there are plenty of things they could do to decrease their DOA counts. In my opinion they aren't doing near enough, and should probably hire a packaging and shipping consultant.

My #1 suggestion is to stop shipping directions that lead to a 404, for the love of god, it's not hard, and I'd argue this is a far bigger deal than folks make it out to be.
