I'm wondering if it was the USB connection. Sometimes it's unreliable and since it seems like it needs a constant feed (IE: no onboard memory for the SD4), could be it.

There wasn't a stop error in the console (which I've also seen before).

It's hard to predict and makes me nervous leaving the SD alone because there's no killswitch on the hardware side (as far as I know), it's all on the software. So it was globbing when it stopped and I had to manually engage it.

What are you seeing in the command window in repetier when this happens? You might need to drag it up from the bottom edge if it is not visible.

Anyway, I have identified two causes when my printer randomly stops mid print. The first is extruder thermistor shorting. Make sure that is ruled out. Second is a loose USB connection to my computer and the printer simply stops reading the G-code. Check that too.

I was having freeze-up problems, and traced the source to a nearby flourescent light on my craft table. If I would turn it on or off during a print, there was a 50/50 chance of the printer locking up.

I converted the lamp to LED (i.e. got rid of the high-voltage ballast), and haven't had a problem since.

I have experienced similar a couple times I think it was my fault power settings on the lap top . but I think some may have been software glitches, What software and version are you using. also what printer.
seems like each version of RH and Slicer work differently one flavor I was having to wait for the bed and extrude to heat even if they started hot they would cool then reheat. Last night went to start a print it started printing in the home position a 1/4 in off the bed making a pile.
I am using the latest stable version having successful prints but the head stops and sits on the part I need to manually park the head. IIRC have gone through 4 versions of RH in the last month and a half maybe not the best Idea.
Tin

I've seen this only a couple of times, but my print suddenly stopped doing anything.

I think the extruder is still hot and starts to glob, but the commands aren't running any more and the print seems dead. I tried pausing and doing a few things, but couldn't get it to restart.

No idea what causes this or how to prevent it. The PC wasn't doing much at the time either (didn't freeze the computer or anything).

Help?
