No bubbles in filament does not mean it is dry.

There is a reason why the DIY filament section was made.

Hey,

I recently tried PLA for the first time but Im having consistency issues now.

The transition from the ABS went well the PLA has a different color so I could see clearly when the ABS was flushed and in general I manage to spool it but the diameters are +-.2-.3mm.

From what I diagnose the fact that the PLA comes out of the nozzle much more liquid makes it more susceptible to all the movements in the already extruded part. For example when the winder doesnt contentiously spools the part between winder and nozzle start to swing slightly which in turn creates thin spots right at the nozzle.

I tried a bigger cooling fan and moved it closer to the nozzle (of course shielding the thermistor to not confuse the temp readings) and added two small loops were the filament is guided through ca 7cm under the nozzle. This removed most of the wiggle, but also increase the chance of the filament catching in the loops and ruining the run.

Any gold tips you want to share in how to deal with PLA?
Is increased cooling the right way?
and what exactly does pre drying the pellets do? ( I dont see any bubbles in the filament so I guess thats fine)
