Same board but I went with the 8825 steppers.  You can switch them to 1/16th if you need extra torque for say the Y-axis.

1/16th drivers and 1/32 drivers will produce the same torque at a given shaft position. Might be good to look into microstepping a bit.

Explained:

Lets say you have a 1.8deg/step stepper, rated at 100 oz-in of torque.

at 0 degrees: 100 oz-in torque available
at 1.8 degrees: 100 oz-in of torque available

but if drive it with a 1/2 microstepping driver:

at 0 degrees: 100 oz-in torque available
at 0.9 degrees: 70.7 oz-in of torque available
at 1.8 degrees: 100 oz-in of torque available

So lets say your total load torque is 50 oz-in. Obviously, you'll always hit the desired position (0, 0.9, or 1.8deg). If your load increases to 80oz-in, then when you command 0.9deg the motor and load won't move - but they wouldn't have moved anyway without microstepping!

tl;dr: microstepping always helps, never hurts. Also tends to make the axis resonate/vibrate a whole lot less. Really no downside, as long as you recognize it isn't a perfect replacement for a gear ratio. If you need true accuracy at whatever resolution, then you can't count on microstepping - but if its microstepping or nothing, microstepping is better.

Actually, a permanent magnet synchronous AC motor is just a stepper motor with infinite micro stepping (1/infinity). Those have plenty of torque, they move trains.
