I'd be willing to be that even if the printer has a "go" type USB interface, that it still wouldn't do any good since you wouldn't be able to select a file on the external from the printers menu to print it. The 3 files you can select from the menu and print off the SD Card are SAMPLE01.gcode through SAMPLE03.gcode and correspond with the order of "Demo, Keychain, and Vase" in the print demo menu.

Do you have a source for that extension cable? I was looking for that but couldn't find one.

I found one one Amazon. I thought I had looked every place last night and I did order some other stuff from Amazon, but I guess I just forgot to check for that cable.

I like the idea of letting the end lay in the bottom of the cabinet, I'll try that too. As for loading programs, I think I'll need to wait until Mine gets here tomorrow to see how everything functions. I do recall reading about renaming the sample files to work around things.

I really don't want to cut open the case if this might work.

Background, I've been a electronic hardware hacker since the days of tubes in TVs and Radios, back when Radio Shack actually carried real electronic components and kits, not just cell phones. I built my first RepRap a few months back and just passed that on to my son and decided to replace it with the Da Vinci.

My biggest concern over buying the XYZ was the dedicated filament cartridges so I'm glad to see there's a hack for that! And pulled the trigger.
