By moving the plate further away, the arm does not have to work as hard.

The whole reason for the extension is exactly what you describe - 3mm filament was too stiff and the servo couldn't exert enough force.

With the extender part ?
I saw one on there that allows to move the plate further away.
Still it will not provide wider angle swing, would it ? Unless i modify and print the guide to be longer, but in that case servo will have to work harder which is exactly what i want to avoid.

There's no need for gears, just move the PTFE tubing plate further from the servo so it doesn't have to exert as much force. There's an example on Thingiverse.

Its all good. I will make some labels for future reference.
Thanks !

Hey: i was thinking on printing taller servo guide but its kinda weak already and may not push hard enough to guide the filament. It works OK with standard width spools but i wind it on a larger one so i can run it for longer and respool to where i need to making it more even etc.

If i was to setup some gears to take some stress off the servo, do you think it would work ?
I am not sure how large the gears need to be and how many teeth in order to keep it correct shift size
I am also not sure how to get it to move the guide wider for wider spools. I think just making it taller is not the solution, it needs to slide left to right.

Maybe buy 2 smooth rods+2 lm8uu bearings, print 2 pulleys, 1 for servo 1 as guide and attach to the belt somewhere somehow
Should cost about $10-$20 with all parts excluding printed once.
Would be nice upgrade.

I kept calibration in manual since you would normally be doing that before you start. Then once you are running under auto that is more likely when you would want to tweak the current guide position which is what the middle button does then.

Have you tried calibrating the sensor again?

Follow the directions for Troubleshooting Mode at the end of the manual. The Serial Monitor will show you the number value for the position of the filament so you can see if it is reading correctly but not running the motor, or if the sensor isn't reading the filament. Also when you calibrate the sensor it outputs the max and min readings of each photocell to the serial monitor so you can see if there is a problem with one of those.

It was turning all night.
I noticed that last night it was turning very slowly even when there was no filament in the view.
So in the morning i discovered that it pulled it out of the guide and continued to wind slowly with no speed change resulting very fine line of filament.

Anyway: after unwinding the thin string of the roller, i adjusted L and R and start positions as usual but the motor wont turn.
It turns in manual mode but automatic does not respond to my finger nor filament shadow.

There is a tiny button on the board that i pressed hoping to reset, but that did not help.

I had it off for few minutes unplugged and that did not help.
I rotated 2 full turns for the magnet to tell the board that it turns, it changed the position but still not turning by its self.

Sometime before i did exact same thing, but do no reason it went working and would not work for no reason that i can think of.

Whats wrong ?

THanks !
